PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
∙ Project Spotlight ∙
We’re thrilled to share that construction is now complete on the Newton Aycliffe Community Hub – a project we’re incredibly proud of.
This transformation has been significant, not just in scale but in impact. What once stood empty for over 15 years – the former Woolworths store (opened in 1958, closed in 2009) – is now full of purpose once again.
The space will soon become home to @lifelinecommunityaction , whose work supports so many across the region. With over 15 partner organisations moving in, the hub will provide vital services, advice and opportunities, all under one welcoming roof.
We’re deeply grateful to Lifeline for trusting us with such a meaningful project. It’s been a privilege to help bring this vision to life.
A huge thank you to Leba Construction for delivering the build to a fantastic standard. Thanks also to @crownpaintsuk for generously donating all the paint, and to @pwsdistributors for donating the kitchen. We’re also thankful to Nikki Todd for his early input, and to @ecophonuk for working with us to meet budget with a discounted ceiling system.
To our design collaborators – A&N Safety Consultants, Sine Consulting Ltd, and Studio Structure Ltd – thank you for your expertise and teamwork.
This one was close to home – geographically and emotionally. Seeing this building reimagined from an empty shell into a thriving hub is a powerful reminder of what community-led regeneration can achieve.
When it opens, if you’re nearby, pop in – we’d love to hear what you think.
If you’re working on a community project or have a space in need of transformation, we’d love to hear from you. These are the projects that drive us.
